Overview
The iDSD GR 2 MT is a 'Master Tuned' version of iFi's portable iDSD GR 2 DAC and headphone amplifier, developed with Grammy and Brit Award-winning producer Steve Levine. The base design stays the same: a Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC that decodes PCM up to 768 kHz and DSD512, and a fully balanced class-A amplifier that delivers up to 1513 mW into 32 Ω from the 4.4 mm output. For the MT version iFi fitted precision resistors and Audio Note Kaisei capacitors, and added two filters made with Steve Levine, one for PCM and one for DSD. It also has JVCKENWOOD's K2HD and K2 processing, which iFi uses to restore harmonic detail lost in digital recordings. You can connect it by USB-C, S/PDIF or Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless and LDAC, and analogue inputs and line outputs let it work as a DAC or preamp at a desk as well. The 4900 mAh battery lasts about seven hours, and on USB power a hybrid mode uses the mains supply first to spare the battery.
