Overview
The FH19 is FiiO's flagship hybrid IEM and the successor to the FH9, developed together with Tokyo Onkyo in Japan and Knowles in the USA. Each earpiece has eight drivers: two 13.7 mm dynamic drivers working as a push-pull pair for the bass (one pushes while the other pulls, so each moves less for the same volume and distortion stays lower), four Knowles midrange balanced armatures that FiiO had customised with extra venting, and two Knowles SWFK treble drivers. A four-way crossover with Rubycon film capacitors divides the work, and a notch filter takes out an 8 kHz peak of the mid drivers to avoid sibilance. The semi-open shell relieves air pressure, so it avoids the blocked feeling of a fully sealed IEM, and is made of 7000-series aluminium with a titanium midframe. Three screw-on filters (red, black, green) change the sound, the 224-wire pure silver cable has expanded MMCX connectors and swappable 3.5 and 4.4 mm plugs, and six kinds of ear tips are included, among them SpinFit and HS18.
- 2 dynamic (push-pull) + 6 Knowles balanced armatures
- Semi-open, three swappable sound filters
- Pure silver cable with 3.5/4.4 mm plugs
How it sounds
Frequency response
Dashed line: the Harman IE 2019 target
Measured by Aftersound (IEC 711 clone), published on squig.link. Independent measurement, not by us. Measuring rigs differ slightly above 8 kHz.
Sound signature
Neutral
Accurate and uncoloured. Hear the recording as mixed.
Read from the measurement above: bass and treble compared with Harman IE 2019. One curve gives an indication, not the final word.
Dark and relaxed. Bass and mids follow the Harman IE 2019 target, apart from the deepest bass (about 5 dB less below 60 Hz). Between 2 and 8 kHz the FH19 sits 7 to 9 dB under the target: voices and cymbals sound soft and distant, never sharp. If you're sensitive to bright treble or listen for hours, you'll like that; if you want clarity, it will probably feel too dark. Measured with the green filters fitted at the factory; the red and black filters in the box change the sound and aren't shown in this graph.
