FiiO BTA30 Pro (black)

The BTA30 Pro is a desktop box that adds Bluetooth to a home system in both directions. As a receiver it takes music from your phone over LDAC, aptX HD, aptX or AAC and plays it through its RCA output into an amplifier or active speakers, or passes it on digitally over optical or coaxial. As a transmitter it sends the sound of a TV, CD player or computer (optical, coaxial or USB) to Bluetooth headphones, also over LDAC, which FiiO says only a few devices can both send and receive. Without Bluetooth it is a USB DAC: an XMOS chip accepts up to 384 kHz/32-bit and DSD256, a DSP can upsample everything to 384 kHz, and an ESS ES9038Q2M DAC drives the RCA line output at up to 3 Vrms. An external antenna gives a range of about 30 m in open space, an RGB light shows which codec is in use, and the FiiO Control or FiiO Music app sets filters, channel balance and volume. It has an aluminium case and weighs 145 g; there is no microphone, so it does not handle calls.
