The ASF is one of KZ's few all-armature IEMs: five balanced armatures per side, split over lows, mids and highs, with no dynamic driver. It launched in late 2020 at around $60. The tuning is bold rather than refined: lots of mid-bass and a forward upper midrange. Detachable cable, version without microphone.
Frequency response
Dashed line: the Harman IE 2019 target
Measured by Melatonin (IEC 711 clone), published on squig.link. Independent measurement, not by us. Measuring rigs differ slightly above 8 kHz.
Sound signature
Bass-heavy
Big, physical low end for electronic and hip-hop.
Read from the measurement above: bass and treble compared with Harman IE 2019. One curve gives an indication, not the final word.
Tuned for a lot of bass: between 60 and 250 Hz the ASF sits about 7 dB above the target. A strong bump around 1.6 kHz (almost 7 dB over the target) pushes voices forward, and after a peak between 5 and 6 kHz the treble drops steeply above 6.5 kHz. A bold, heavy sound; voices can come across a little nasal and that 5 kHz peak sharp, so it isn't the first choice for close listening to vocals or classical music.
